Positive Southern Rally for Brendo

Brendo and Rhianon have enjoyed a positive run in today's Southern Rally in South Australia.

After a cautious start re-aquainting himself with the 4WD Subaru RS after three rallies in front wheel drive cars, Brendo quickly adapted and was soon on the pace of the front runners.

Brendo described the roads as 'pretty tough'.  There were many long straights, followed by hard turns, and then more long straights, but this was a positive from a pacenoting perspective as it gave Rhianon the chance to give more detailed descriptions for each of the calls.

With the rally running an hour or so behind schedule, Brendo and Rhianon decided to withdraw from the rally prior to the finish as they had a seven hour drive  home ahead of them in order to start work early on Monday morning.  Just five kilometres before the end of their last stage, the gear selector in the RS broke, and Brendo drove to the finish holding it in place!

"We shouldn't have told the car we were pulling out!" he joked.  "It might have held on a bit longer."

Despite their shortened event, Brendo and Rhianon were happy with their performance in the rally.  They are taking every chance possible to gain more experience before their trip to the UK in December for Brendo's shot at the Fiesta International Shootout.  The pair will next contest the Akademos Rally based out of Alexandra in Victoria, on November 16.
