Reeves takes Series lead into round 2 of VRC this weekend

PDFPrintE-mail

After competing in just one event in 2020 due to Coronavirus restrictions, Brendan Reeves will contest his second rally of 2021 this weekend, just three weeks after his season opener.

A positive result at the Mitta Mountain Rally aboard his modified Datsun 1600 has given Reeves plenty of confidence ahead of this weekend’s Ada River Rally run by the Western District Car Club.

The event is round 2 of the Victorian Rally Championship (VRC), and based on his 3rd outright placing at the opening event, Reeves is hoping for another good result.  He holds a two point lead in the Victorian championship after last month's Mitta Mountain Rally and Reeves' aim for 2021 is to contest as many rounds of the VRC as possible to fine tune the car ahead of the Alpine Rally at the end of the year.

Reeves will have a new co-driver alongside him for this event in Aiden O’Halloran.  Kate Catford, who co-drove in round one was already committed to Targa Tasmania, so fellow Victorian competitor Craig Jarvie has lent his regular note caller to Reeves for this weekend.

Based out of Rokeby, near Warragul, the route charted event will be split into two Heats consisting of ten special stages, with a total competitive distance of 159 kilometres.

With an entry list of around 80 crews, competition will be tough, with Adrian Stratford and Peter Schey, who are just behind Reeves in the VRC pointscore, amongst the strong field entered in the event.

Reeves takes some consolation from having competed on similar roads to those being used previously this weekend.  The Victorian rounds of the 2013 and 2014 Australian Rally Championship were held in the Rokeby area so Reeves has a good idea of what the conditions will be like.

Brendan Reeves and Aiden O’Halloran will start as car 5 when the rally gets underway on Saturday, April 17 at 8.30am from the Rokeby Recreation Reserve.

Reeves would like to thanks to Bendigo tyre Centre, Nankervis Performance Boats and ARRS for working hard to get the car ready with the short turn around between events.
