After a year of cancelled events thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Western Victoria Crane Trucks Valley Stages rally looks set to be the first event of the year for many competitors, including Brendan Reeves.
The event is a favourite of Brendan’s - he won the 2WD class in 2018 in a Holden Commodore and again in 2019 in a Ford Escort, and a victory in Datzilla in 2020 would complete a perfect three-peat.
Scheduled to be run on Sunday, 25 October, the event will cover 150 kilometres of competitive stages, with just one new stage from last year. The rally is based out of Yarra Glen, about an hour from Melbourne’s CBD.
Whilst he hasn’t been able to compete this year, Datzilla has still received plenty of attention with Brendan making numerous adjustments to the car. The Datsun debuted at least year’s Alpine Rally where a few teething problems arose, so Brendan has been working on rectifying those in recent months.
Whilst lockdown restrictions in Victoria are yet to be eased, Brendan and the entire Victorian rally community have their fingers crossed that the Valley Stages will be able to run. The organisers, Nissan Car Club, have generously offered to refund all entry fees should the event not be able to proceed.
