This weekend will see the long-awaited return to competition of Brendan Reeves when he contests round 4 of the New Zealand Rally Championship (NZRC), Rally South Canterbury.

After driving the Force Motorsport Mazda2 AP4 at Rally Australia in November and giving it a debut victory at Rally Coromandel (New Zealand) in August, Reeves is excited to be driving the car again.

Sitting beside Reeves to call the pace notes will be his sister, Rhianon Gelsomino.  The pair have spent this week testing in the car alongside their Force Motorsport teammates Andrew and Jack Hawkeswood.

“I’m really excited to get the opportunity to drive the Mazda2 again,” Reeves said.  “The car is fantastic to drive and I really love the New Zealand roads so I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel.”

Rally South Canterbury has attracted a large field including World Rally Championship driver Hayden Paddon who is re-uniting with his former co-driver John Kennard for the event.  Paddon and Kennard will start as first car on the road with Reeves and Gelsomino second.

“It’s great to have a benchmark as good as Hayden and John to compare times to,” Reeves said.

“It’s going to be a super fast rally with many tricky crests. It’s my first rally on the South Island and I can’t wait.”
