Exhaust gasket issues re-occur at Rally Australia

PDFPrintE-mail

Day 2 of Rally Australia has come to an abrupt end for Brendan Reeves and Rhianon Gelsomino after the exhaust gasket issues they suffered on day one re-occurred.

The day’s opening test was the 50 kilometre Nambucca stage and Brendan said the car felt brilliant for the first twenty kilometres, before the recurrence of the problem.

After his early retirement yesterday, Brendan started further down the field today and his speed meant that he quickly caught competitors ahead of him.  Despite stopping in the stage at least six times due to the hanging dust of other cars and his own mechanical woes, he was still the fastest Australian on the stage.

As the exhaust leak had melted some important steering components, the only option was to retire from the day's competition.

Brendan’s hard working service crew are currently sourcing new parts for the car and he and Rhianon will re-start on Kennards Hire Rally Australia on day three.
