Australia’s premier rally, Kennard’s Hire Rally Australia, kicks off tomorrow with Brendan Reeves confident of a successful event.

Reeves and his co-driving sister, Rhianon Gelsomino, have entered the event in their Subaru WRX and at today’s Shakedown were the fastest of the Australian teams entered.

The event is the final round of the 2016 World Rally Championship (WRC) and has attracted a large field of international and local competitors and Reeves is aiming to be the first Australian home when the rally concludes on Sunday.

After a positive Shakedown today, Reeves is looking forward to starting the rally on Friday morning and says the expected hot temperatures could make conditions tricky.

“The temperature is expected to hit 30 degrees tomorrow so tyre choice will play a role,” Reeves said.  “We’ll need to make the right decision between a tyre that can handle the hot temperatures but also hold up to the road conditions.”

Friday’s stages of Kennard’s Hire Rally Australia will be held south of the Coffs Harbour base on mostly shire roads, and with hot and dry conditions, dust could be an issue for drivers.

With three days of competition ahead of him, Reeves is hoping for a solid start to the event.  He has been well-supported as always, and will have 40 bonnet supporters riding along with he and Gelsomino during the event.
