Kennards Hire Rally Australia, the nation’s round of the World Rally Championship (WRC), has appointed Brendan as an ambassador for the event which will be based at Coffs Harbour in November.
Having competed at the event in the past, Brendan is rapt to be involved as an ambassador.
“When I was asked if I’d like to be an ambassador for the event, I jumped at the chance,” Brendan said. “I’m really looking forward to helping promote the event and to try and spread the word about it on social media.
“Australia is extremely lucky to host a round of the World Rally Championship, with lots of other countries vying for the opportunity, so if I can do my bit to encourage more competitors and more spectators and help secure the future of the event in Australia, that would be great.
“This year Kennards Hire Rally Australia will be the final round of the WRC so I’d expect lots of the teams to stay on after the rally and enjoy the famous Australian scenery and hospitality.
“Rally Australia is always a popular event with the teams and I’m looking forward to competing in the event again this year, too.”
Whilst Kennards Hire Rally Australia is still a few months away, Brendan will be busy in the meantime. His next event is the Gold Rush Coromandel Rally in New Zealand’s north island in which he’ll drive a Mazda 2 for Force Motorsport. His sister and regular co-driver, Rhianon Gelsomino, will call the pace notes alongside Brendan for the rally.
The Gold Rush Coromandel Rally will be held on the weekend of August 20 and 21 and Brendan has received support from Pirelli who will provide tyres for the event.
Just three weeks later, Brendan will return to the Australian Rally Championship (ARC) at the Lightforce Rally South Australia. After winning the National Capital Rally (ARC round 2) in May, he and Rhianon are excited to tackle the fast stages of South Australia.
“I’ve just submitted my entry for Rally SA,” Brendan said. “Rhianon will co-drive for me and I’ll drive my Subaru that we won the Canberra event in.”
It’s going to be a busy and exciting few months for Brendan - and he can’t wait!
