Last Friday, Brendan travelled to Sydney’s Motorsport Park to take part in a test drive day for the upcoming Sidchrome Extreme Rallycross Championship and he came away more than impressed. Brendan was amongst about ten other drivers who put the purpose-built 2.4 litre Olsberg Supercar Lite through its paces on the day. A dozen or so laps of the wet track (which dried out for the afternoon’s test) gave Brendan a good opportunity to get a feel for the car and what it is capable of. He was pleasantly surprised with the handling of the car. “The Supercar Lite is a really rewarding car for the driver,” Brendan said. “It feels really nice, has plenty of power and it brakes really well.” The Sidchrome Extreme Rallycross Championship is a seven round series which will get underway in August and whilst Brendan would love to immediately commit to the championship, his participation will depend largely on funding. “I would love to take part in the Championship but like any form of motorsport, it doesn’t come cheap. Each driver has to buy their own Supercar Lite and they come in at over $200,000 each so unless I’m able to find enough sponsorship, it looks like I’ll just be spectating.” Rallycross is the fastest growing form of motorsport around the world. Each rallycross event consists of a field of drivers competing around a circuit which has a mix of dirt and tarmac surfaces with jumps, making it a real spectacle for spectators.
