Brendan ready for ARC battle to continue

PDFPrintE-mail

After a two month break between events, current ECB Australian Rally Championship (ARC) leader Brendan Reeves is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of his Mazda2 when the championship resumes in Queensland in a fortnight.

Round 3 of the ECB ARC is the International Rally of Queensland based at Caloundra on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, and Brendan will head into the event quietly confident after wins in the opening two rounds.

The International Rally of Queensland is the first 'endurance' event of this year's Championship with three days of competition, and with a preference for longer stages and rallies, Brendan is relishing the thought of competing on the Sunshine Coast roads.

As well as contesting the ARC component of the rally, Brendan and co-driver, Rhianon Gelsomino, will also vie for Asia-Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) points as this event forms part of both series'. The chance to once again test himself against international drivers was an opportunity Brendan couldn't resist, and as G2-classified cars are eligible to score points in the APRC, the decision was easily made.

Despite spending no time at the wheel of his RallySchool.com.au Mazda2 since the last round of the championship in Busselton, Western Australia, Brendan believes it won't take him long to get back into the groove and resume the fast but consistent driving he has produced so far this season.

Brendan heads into the International Rally of Queensland on 163 points, 34 points ahead of nearest rival, Scott Pedder (Renault Clio), and with 86 points up for grabs over the weekend, the battle will be fierce from the outset.
