Successful Robertstown Rally for Brendo

Brendo and Rhianon had a successful Robertstown Rally in South Australia yesterday, finishing the rally in fourth place.

Despite the fast roads not really suiting Brendo's Subaru Impreza RS, he finished the event only one second per kilometre slower than the rally's overall winner, South Australian Rally Championship regular, Matt Selley.  In fact, the top three places were all taken out by SARC regulars.

"It was a fun rally," Brendo said.  "Our pacenoting went really well which was the main aim for entering the rally. Lots of the roads were very tight with trees meaning we had a lot of  '8s' and '9s' in our notes so we had to really concentrate all the time."

After a fairly relaxed day of recce on Friday, Saturday's event comprised seven stages and a total competitive distance of 93km.  The night stages were very dusty, but after the first stage of the night, crews were let out at three minute intervals which eased the dust problems.

Brendo and Rhianon will arrive home just in time to pack for their trip to New Zealand where they will contest Rally Whangarei next weekend (June 7 and 8).   Check back soon for Brendo's New Zealand diary.
