Brendan Reeves and Rhianon Smyth have finished day one of the New England Forest Rally in Maine, USA, in second place in the two-wheel drive category, 10 seconds clear of championship leader Andrew Comrie-Picard. Driving their Team O'Neil Ford Fiesta R2, the Australians are 10th outright in the event, as they strive for their third two-wheel drive category win in a row.
"The stages today were super fast and we're pushing hard," Reeves said.
"We're 26 seconds behind Will Orders in his Toyota 86, but the Fiesta simply doesn't have the legs on the fast sections.
"Critically, we're beating all the American drivers that we need to stay in front of."
The rally, round five of the Rally America series, is being led by Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino in a Ford Fiesta, 16 seconds clear of David Higgins' Subaru.
Day two of the New England Forest Rally will be held on Saturday, USA time. |
