Another successful day at Targa Tasmania

Rick Bates and Rhianon Smyth have had another successful day in Targa Tasmania, finishing with a 51 second lead over fellow Mazda3 MPS driver, Alister McRae. 

A great drive by the pair allowed them to put distance between themselves and the rest of the field in the Showroom 2WD class.

Bates was also pleased to have had another clean day.

“We had a great day and after Alister had a problem, we took it slightly easier than because he was our main rival,” Bates said.

“The Mazda MPS has been going very well and we want to get it to the finish and win the showroom category, which is important to the manufacturers.”

Rhianon has settled in well beside Rick Bates and has proved her worth as a leading co-driver, handling the pace notes with ease.
