Positive start for Brendan at Rally Finland |
The final stage of the day was a short 4 km stage just outside of Jvyskyla, the base for the event. Just 400 metres in to the stage, crews were faced with a hairpin bend and a slight overshoot cost Brendan six seconds.
The overshoot dropped him back to fifth place, 25 seconds from the lead but with only a very small margin separating second to fifth places. Despite the overshoot, Brendan was happy with the day's result and the set up of the Ford Fiesta R2.
"We had a good run through the first two stages, then made a small mistake on the third, but we're happy with our times. It's a big day tomorrow," Reeves said.
"There were so many spectators today. I have never seen anything like it before."
Day 2 of Rally Finland (Friday) is a long day of competition with only a 15 minute remote service at the lunch break, so it will be a day of managing the car as best as possible.
Brendan's aim for Rally Finland is for a good finish in order to accumulate more valuable points in the WRC Academy Championship and after the opening day, he is well placed to do so.
