Brendo happy with sixth at Mt Buller

A challenging, but enjoyable weekend, saw Brendo and Rhianon finish sixth outright in this year’s Mt. Buller Sprint, held over three days.  With only one stage contested on each of the first two days due to inclement weather, all four stages were run on the final day.

Starting off with soft tyres on the final day, Brendo suffered a little from lack of grip, however with a change of rubber to ‘mediums’ at the lunch break, the Subaru RS Impreza was soon breaking the nine minute barrier on the 16.1km stage. Brendo was extremely happy with his run over the weekend.  “The car ran perfectly all weekend”, he commented.  “We had a different suspension set up from our last tarmac rally in Burnie, so I had to get used to that, but everything went well. I have never driven competitively on wet tarmac before, so that was a fairly steep learning curve, but I really enjoyed the event.”

There’s no rest for Brendo and Rhianon, who head to Healesville today to start their pre-Rally of Melbourne preparations.  The team will spend one day testing and a day of recce before Friday’s media day and Ceremonial Start.  The rally proper gets underway on Saturday morning.
