Brendan leads Showroom Class in Targa High Country

Brendan and Rhianon have had an excellent first day at Targa High Country, finishing the day's seven stages with a lead of around three minutes. With times for the final stage, the climb up the Mount Buller road, still not posted at the time of writing, the pair held a 2 minute and 59 second lead over their nearest rivals in the Showroom Class. They were also sitting in seventh outright at the end of the penultimate stage.
On the very fast tarmac stages of day one, the Mazda 3 MPS ran perfectly and Brendan's confidence grew throughout the day. Four stages were run in the morning with three of them repeated in the afternoon and, despite the afternoon's stages all being uphill, Brendan was able to improve his times on each.
"We had a fantastic day," Brendan said. "The roads were fantastic and it felt great to be back in the Mazda 3 MPS again. We've had a really good run today and I'm already looking forward to tomorrow."
"The final stage up Mount Buller was quite hard on the tyres so I'll have to monitor the tyre pressure a bit more tomorrow, but other than that, everything today was perfect!"
Today's final results will be posted when they become available.
