Starting the day on a wet weather set-up, Brendo was disappointed to find the roads in the Hellyer Gorge area were dry. With lots of trees shading the roads, it is always difficult to predict road conditions in the gorge and wet weather tyres slowed the Mazda3 MPS down considerably. Nevertheless, with dry weather tyres on for the last stage of the day, Brendo set a blistering time , giving him plenty of confidence going into the final day of competition. "Tomorrow will be an exciting day," Brendo said. "There are a couple of really long stages which suit our car and he are hopeful of making up some time on those. On the other hand, the shorter stages really suit the 4WDs and we are very aware that in those stages we can lose time." "We'll just go out and keep doing what we've been doing all event," he added. "We're not taking any risks and I'm very aware of when I can push harder and when I need to hold back a bit. Hopefully that will see us on the podium at the end of tomorrow's stages."
