Brendo in solid position in Rally Tasmania

PDFPrintE-mail
Brendan and Rhianon have put in another solid performance in today's Day Two of Rally Tasmania.  The Victorian pair started the day in second place after two short timed stages on Friday and set a steady pace on all eight stages of the event's second leg.

The Reeves Racing team had a day long battle with fellow Subaru WRX driver Steve Glenney and Jim Richards in a Porsche 911 GT2.  The three traded stage wins all day with Brendo winning the two longest stages of the day, Savage River, at 30 kilometres each.  The tight, twisty stage is one of Brendo's favourites and he was rewarded with stage honours on both runs.

Richards took four stage wins and Glenney one, to finish the day in first and second places with Brendo just 5.8 seconds back in third place.

"We had a really good day and are really pleased to be back on the pace again," Brendo said.  "The car was fantastic today.  We ran out of brakes on the Savage River stage this morning but we were still able to win that stage and the repeat of it run in reverse, so that was great.

"Everything went well in the car. I am happy with my driving and our notes worked perfectly - it's great to be back in the car together again, and to be comfortably in third place is awesome!"

The final day of Rally Tasmania will see competitors contest another eight special stages, with a competitive distance of nearly 56 kilometres.

The rally finishes with two stages around the streets of Burnie, in front of an expected crowd of 5000 people.
