Brendo raring to go at Rally Tasmania

PDFPrintE-mail
With their first rally of the season due to start tomorrow (Friday), Brendo and Rhianon are raring to go.  Rally Tasmania gets underway with three stages on Friday afternoon, followed by a further 16 stages on Saturday and Sunday.

Based out of Burnie in north west Tasmania, the tarmac rally will use the popular stages of Hellyer Gorge and Savage River, and finishes with a Super Special around the streets of Burnie on Sunday afternoon.

Brendo and Rhianon have had plenty of experience on the Tasmanian roads, both in this event and in Targa Tasmania, and with a second placing in the 2008 Rally Tasmania, Brendo goes into the event full of confidence.

"We both know these stages pretty well and really enjoy driving them," Brendo said.  "We haven't done a tarmac event since Targa Tasmania in April last year, so we are really looking forward to getting out there again."

This weekend's event will be Rhianon's first rally back after the pair's accident in Rally South Australia last August, but with one win from one rally since his return, Brendo has shown he hasn't lost any of his speed and confidence.

"I'm feeling great and really looking forward to getting back into the rally car," Rhianon said.  "It's been a long recovery but I love rallying and can't wait to get out there and call the notes again."

Brendo and Rhianon will compete in the Modern competition this weekend against some of Australia's best tarmac drivers including Jim Richards, Tony Quinn and Steve Glenney.  Their left hand drive Subaru WRX STI has been converted to tarmac set up for the event and after a successful tarmac test day a fortnight ago, they are confident of a good showing in the rally.
