Brendo's season to kick off with Rally Tasmania

Brendo will return to competitive action next month when he contests the tarmac Rally Tasmania in his 2006 Subaru STI.  After competing in the event last year in the Australian Rally Championship component of the event, Brendo will this year contest the Outright category.

Despite being only 21 years of age, Brendo has already had a lot of success on tarmac rallies - he finished second outright in Rallye Burnie in 2007, beaten only by tarmac ace and racing legend, Jim Richards - and has had impressive results in Targa Tasmania driving for the Mazda Motorsport Team.

Brendo's sister, Rhianon Smyth, will make her welcome return to the co-driver's seat for the rally.

With the experience of numerous tarmac rallies behind him, and a good knowledge of the roads to be used, Brendo is really looking forward to returning to Tasmania for his first event of the season.

"It will be great to compete in Tassie again," he said.  "I really love the roads down there and I am looking forward to competing against some of the country's best drivers in the Outright category.  It will be a new challenge for me."
