Fantastic result for Brendo in Targa Tasmania

Brendo and Rhianon have had a successful end to their Targa Tasmania campaign, finishing third outright in the Showroom class, and first 2WD.
Despite the disappointment of dropping from third to second yesterday after a puncture, resulting in a tyre change, incurred a two minute penalty, Brendo came out firing this morning and set the fastest stage time of the first stage of the day. He recorded a time 18 seconds quicker than the Evo IX of Tony Warren, an excellent result given the wet conditions.
The remainder of the morning's stages were also wet, with the roads drying out after lunch as the cars headed towards Hobart.
In his first ever Targa, Brendo kept his head for the remainder of the day, and drove a mature race to finish on the podium. After five solid days of competition, it was a remarkable result for the 20 year old. He finished over seven minutes ahead of the fourth placed Mitsubishi Evo X of Millar/Dean.
"We've had a fantastic Targa," Brendo commented. "The car ran perfectly all week and I would like to thank all the team from Mazda Motorsport for giving me the opportunity to drive the Mazda3 MPS. It's a brilliant car, and Rhianon and I are rapt to finish on the podium."
Brendo and Rhianon will return to Melbourne tomorrow before flying to Brisbane on Tuesday for Rally Queensland.
