Great start for Brendo in Targa Tasmania

Brendo's Targa Tasmania campaign has got off to a good start with a solid performance in today's Prologue.
The five kilometre street stage around George Town in northern Tasmania proved a real test, but Brendo drove brilliantly to finish fastest in the 2WD Showroom class in his Mazda 3 MPS.
Despite not having driven the Mazda since the Tasmanian Tarmac Challenge in October last year, Brendo was comfortable behind the wheel of the nimble 2WD.
"The course today was very tricky with lots of square corners and driving on the inside of roundabouts," he said. "I had never driven a street stage like this one before so I tried to drive as cleanly as possible."
"The Mazda handled beautifully, despite us driving on cold tyres, and I am really looking forward to getting some more k's under my belt tomorrow."
"It was really important for us to set a good stage time today to set us up for a solid starting position tomorrow, so I am really pleased we've been able to do that," he added.
Tomorrow's itinerary consists of nine stages to the north of Launceston covering around 68 km of special stages.
