The Acropolis Rally, round two of the 2012 World Rally Championship (WRC) Academy, will be the 50th rally together for Brendan and Rhianon.
The brother and sister's rally career has so far included everything from club and State Championship events to national, Asia Pacific and World Championship rallies. They have also proven their talent on tarmac, with excellent results in Targa Tasmania and Targa Wrest Point.
Brendan will return to Europe again this weekend to attend the next FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy, a program for which he was selected, at the end of 2011.
Last year's Brendan Reeves Supporters Tour to Rally Finland was a great success and this year, Brendan and Rhianon have again decided to offer a Supporters Tour. This year's tour will be to Rally Spain, the final round of the 2012 World Rally Championship and the final WRC Academy event for the year, to be held from November 7 to 12.
M-Sport is happy to announce a new award for the FIA WRC Academy’s second season. Applauding the camaraderie of the WRC Academy crews, the 'Spirit of the FIA WRC Academy' award will honour the most sportsman-like crew, driver or co-driver on each event. Supported by Ford Racing in Europe and with control tyres from Pirelli, the 2011 edition of the WRC Academy is well known for the close-knit bonds it encourages amongst the competing crews, and the new award aims to commend this.
Brendan and Rhianon have had a heartbreaking end to Targa Tasmania with a mechanical problem forcing their retirement on the final day of the five day event.
Day 4 of Targa Tasmania has been a positive one for Mazda Motorsport's Brendan Reeves and Rhianon Smyth and they sit in third outright with just one day of competition to go.
Day 3 of Targa Tasmania has seen Brendan and Rhianon maintain their 4th outright place after 137 kilometres of competitive stages. The day produced a mix of wet and dry roads and Brendan set some good stage times in the Mazda Motorsport RX8 SP, including second fastest on the 'Oldina' stage.
After eight stages of tarmac rallying today, covering around 70 kilometres, Mazda Motorsport drivers Brendan Reeves and Rhianon Smyth sit in fourth outright position at the end of Day 2 of Targa Tasmania.
Day 1 of Targa Tasmania has been a good one for Brendan and Rhianon - they sit in third outright in their Mazda RX8 SP after eight stages of competition.
"This is only our second event in the car after our third place at Targa Wrest Point. Since then we've changed a couple of things to try and make the car suit me a little bit more. We've made it a bit softer in the suspension and changed the way the seat is situated in the car, and a few different things."
