Brendo's new livery revealed |
With his first rally of the year just over three weeks away, Brendo has revealed the first photos of his newly painted Subaru STI. The left hand drive 2006 model Subaru has been given a facelift and Brendo is rapt with the new colour scheme.
“I’m really happy with the way it’s turned out,” he said. “We played around with a few ideas and I think the design we decided on looks awesome. Thanks to Bendigo Tyre Centre and Australian Race and Rally Services for a great job!”
This Friday (February 5), Brendo and the team will spend the day testing ahead of their first event of the year, Rally Tasmania. The tarmac test day will give Brendo a chance to get some more tarmac kilometres under his belt and make some minor adjustments to the car ahead of the Burnie-based event.
“Our last tarmac event was Targa Tasmania back in April last year, so it will be great to get a bit of testing in before we head down to Tassie again,” he said.

Rhianon is ready to rally |
Brendo's regular co-driver, Rhianon Smyth, is set to return to rallying, six months after an accident that shattered both her legs on August 2nd 2009. Rhianon and Brendan were competing in Rally South Australia, the final round of the Australian Rally Championship, when a high speed crash on the rally’s final stage ended their rally and put the pair in the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Rhianon endured a long hospital stay and countless operations to pin her broken legs. Since the accident Rhianon has undergone an extensive rehabilitation program to strengthen her legs and gain back her fitness.

Brendo's season to kick off with Rally Tasmania |
Brendo will return to competitive action next month when he contests the tarmac Rally Tasmania in his 2006 Subaru STI. After competing in the event last year in the Australian Rally Championship component of the event, Brendo will this year contest the Outright category.
Despite being only 21 years of age, Brendo has already had a lot of success on tarmac rallies - he finished second outright in Rallye Burnie in 2007, beaten only by tarmac ace and racing legend, Jim Richards - and has had impressive results in Targa Tasmania driving for the Mazda Motorsport Team.
Brendo's sister, Rhianon Smyth, will make her welcome return to the co-driver's seat for the rally.
