Brendo's Blog - Targa Tasmania 2010 |
I’ve just returned home from the 19th running of Targa Tasmania. It has to be the largest scale rally event I’ve ever taken part in. With over 270 entries there was everything from a 1938 Dodge Speedster Special to the latest in technology in Supercars, and fast fours. I was entered in the Showroom category for Mazda Motorsport in the New Generation Mazda 3 MPS. Last year I drove the previous model at the same event and was amazed at the results Rhianon and I achieved in such a stock front wheel drive car.

Brendo's Blog - Rally of Lithgow |
Hi All,
Rhianon and I competed in the Rally of Lithgow on Saturday. The event was pace noted and therefore, good practice for the Pirelli Star Driver in Queensland in three weeks time. Rallyschool.com.au supplied us with a car for the event and service crew. We were lucky enough to be able to fly into Sydney and then drive the recce car to Lithgow and not have to worry about preparing a car and getting it to the event.

Rally Tasmania was the first round of the Australian Rally Championship for 2009 and also the first rally for Rhianon and I this year. It was great to get back behind the wheel of a four wheel drive car again, for outright contention and to drive for Les Walkden Rallying.

Brendo's Blog - Rally Whanagarei |
It’s been a while since my last blog but there has been a lot on and I’ve been keeping myself very busy. I last touched base preparing for Rally Whangarei, my first adventure out of Australia, and Rhianon’s also. The weekend before our trip to New Zealand we competed in a South Australian Championship round at Robertstown in the Subaru RS to try and prepare ourselves mentally and physically for Whangarei.

Brendo's Blog - May |
After a slow start to the season without financial support to drive for Les Walkden Rallying, 2008 is starting to look more positive for Rhianon and I.
March saw the return for us to the rally scene in the Cerberus Stages where we competed for the first time since rally of Melbourne in our Subaru RS. Only being a route charted event, this provided us with the opportunity to gain our confidence back after the crash, however it did not further develop our pace noting skills. Therefore, we decided after this event to focus on pace noted events and on getting as much experience in this area as possible.

Brendo's Blog - Rally of Melbourne |
With the Yarra Valley, the base for Rally of Melbourne, only a short drive away from Mt Buller, we set off on Tuesday morning to get there with plenty of time to be ready for our new surroundings, get settled in to our new home for the next week and to have a little time for a break before we started to prepare for the biggest rally of the year. The house we were staying in was just out of Healesville, not too far from the main service park in Yarra Glen.
With Les supplying his transporter for the rally, as well as having our usual trusty rally truck, parking was going to be an issue, so we dropped by the service park to leave them there. As it was Melbourne Cup Day there was onlookers everywhere as the service park was at the Yarra Glen Racecourse. Pete, Ian, Bodge and I knew where we would be spending the afternoon once we had off loaded the trucks, but Rhianon and Molly (Taylor )set us straight as they thought different!

Brendo's Blog - Mt Buller Sprint |
With two rallies on two consecutive weekends, it was going to be very busy especially for the boys getting two tarmac rally cars ready for Mt Buller Sprint and also my gravel car ready for the last round of the NEC Australian Rally Championship.
For Rhianon and I, Mt Buller was a chance to have another go at the tarmac surface after our success at Rallye Burnie and to keep learning and improving the car at the same time.

Where do I start?
What a big year it’s been for me and my team - competing in the Australian Rally Championship, the Victorian Rally Championship, one round of the Tasmanian Rally Championship and some selected tarmac rallies as well as a few autocrosses in our spare time for some fun.
